Good Shepherd’s Foundation and the Good Shepherd Guild present the 30th annual Gold Rush, “Memories & Milestones,” benefiting Good Shepherd’s newest project, the Outpatient Imaging and Emergency Center to be located on Hawkins Parkway.

Gold Rush “Memories & Milestones” will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center. Each year, the Guild votes to support a needed service or project that is recommended from Good Shepherd. Since 1984, Gold Rush has netted more than $7.7 million and has played a vital role in the development and advancement of such services as the Heart Center, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Good Shepherd’s Institute for Healthy Living, The Breast Center and Mobile Mammography Unit, the Perinatology Clinic and Women’s Center, the Shepherd House, the Medical Simulation Center of East Texas and more.

“We are very excited and pleased to announce that Gold Rush funds will benefit the new facility located on Hawkins Parkway this year,” said Cindy Jordan, Good Shepherd Development director.

“Gold Rush Memories & Milestones will highlight the organization’s history of more than 75 years, and what better way to celebrate Good Shepherd than raising funds for yet another community and organizational milestone.”

The 74,000 square-foot outpatient and emergency center will house a variety of specialties including outpatient imaging & X-ray services including digital mammography screening, outpatient laboratory services, a full Emergency Center equipped with advanced technology to diagnose and treat patients with urgent and emergent health issues and the offices of Longview Orthopedic Clinic Association.

“With the growing volumes of patients to the Good Shepherd – Longview emergency department, offering an additional location for these services will hopefully improve wait times at the Medical Center and offer patients in this location easy access to urgent and emergent care for injuries and illness,” said John DiPasquale, MD, emergency physician with Leading Edge Medical Associates.

The center will receive ambulance patients and transport patients who need a higher level of care after they are stabilized to the Medical Center, as needed. The new emergency center location is a department of the Good Shepherd Medical Center Level II Trauma Center, and will be staffed by the same emergency registered nurses and board certified emergency physicians from Leading Edge Medical Associates.

Longview Orthopedic Clinic will be relocating their practice to this new facility where they will be increasing their overall exam space thus allowing them to expand their patient base with room to add physicians to their practice as needed by the community. Their portion of the center will include a complete physical therapy gym, exam rooms and two outpatient procedure rooms.

Longview Orthopedic is currently staffed with five orthopedic surgeons and three physician assistants. The center will also offer a full range of outpatient imaging services including ultrasound, X-ray, spiral CT, digital screening mammography and open MRI. All radiology images, lab results and emergency visits will be saved to the Good Shepherd digital network making patients’ test results and medical records readily available to physicians and nursing staff should the patient become hospitalized at the Medical Center for extended care.

Gold Rush “Memories & Milestones” also presents the Pegues Hurst Shootout-Reverse Raffle, sponsored by Pegues Hurst Ford of Longview. Enter this year for a chance to win a 2014 Mustang Coupe Premium. Only 400 tickets are sold at $100 each. Drawing for the car will take place at Gold Rush. Winner need not be present to win.
